ParticipantI wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of Audi owners feel stuck between expensive dealership services and the fear of taking their car to the wrong independent garage. My 2018 A6 was having some issues with a jerky transmission and a warning light that wouldn’t go away. I took it to the dealer for a diagnostic, and they quoted me an eye-watering amount to replace a valve body, without really explaining what was wrong. A friend recommended a specialist in Mussafah, and I’m so glad I listened. They hooked the car up to a proper diagnostic system, checked the live data, and identified a much simpler electrical issue that the dealer had missed. They used genuine Audi parts, gave me a clear estimate, and had the car ready in two days. The difference in price was massive, and the car has been perfect since. I found a place that offers a certified Audi service in Abu Dhabi with a workmanship guarantee, and honestly, I’m never going back to the dealer for out-of-warranty work again . It’s such a relief to have a trustworthy specialist nearby.

ParticipantJerky shifting on a 2018 A6 with a warning light is often a mechatronic or software issue, or a plain sensor fault, and not always a full valve body. Dealers love to quote the whole unit. Was the fault code ever shared with you, or did they just say “valve body” and leave it there?

ParticipantDealer quotes without any explanation are the worst part of owning these cars once the warranty runs out. Glad yours got sorted in two days and stayed sorted. Hope it stays smooth for you.

ParticipantWent through the same thing with my A4 a few years ago. The dealer wanted a huge amount for a gearbox repair, and it ended up being a faulty wiring connector. Since then I always ask to see the live data or fault codes before agreeing to anything.

ParticipantHonestly, this reads a bit like an ad with that link dropped in at the end. Not saying your story isn’t real, but “genuine parts, clear estimate, workmanship guarantee” is exactly what every garage puts on their site. Would love to see the actual invoice breakdown.

ParticipantWhich warning light was it, gearbox or engine management? And did the specialist do a software update or actually replace a part? Curious because I’ve got an A6 with a similar hesitation on the 1-2 shift and would like to know what to check first.
