      Hi everyone,

I have recently started using reusable food storage bags to reduce waste in my kitchen. They are convenient for storing snacks, packing lunches, and keeping leftover ingredients fresh. However, I am finding it difficult to maintain a proper cleaning routine, especially when bags have oily food, sauces, or strong smells inside.

I have been researching different bag wash methods and would love to hear some practical advice from people who regularly clean reusable bags.

      I have a few questions:

      • Is hand washing better than using a dishwasher?
      • What is the safest way to remove grease and stubborn food residue?
      • Should reusable bags be turned inside out before cleaning?
      • Can dishwasher-safe bags be washed with regular dishes?
      • How do you dry bags properly so moisture does not remain trapped inside?

One problem I frequently experience is keeping the bags open while drying. Even after washing, the corners and zipper areas sometimes remain damp. I am wondering whether a special drying rack or bag holder makes this process easier.

I also want to understand whether different materials require different cleaning methods. Some reusable bags are made from flexible plastic, while others are thicker or made from silicone. I assume they may not all tolerate the same water temperature or cleaning products.

Another concern is hygiene. I know that bags used for raw meat or other potentially contaminated foods should not be reused casually. I would also like to know when a bag should be replaced because of cracks, damaged seals, or stubborn odors.

If anyone has developed an easy cleaning routine, please share your experience. I am particularly interested in methods that save time while keeping reusable bags clean and safe for their intended use.

      Thanks for your suggestions!
