NEWLY RECOGNIZED GLOBAL LIGHTHOUSE FACTORIES BY THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM
Over the past several years, a leading group of manufacturers have made impressive progress scaling Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies within the manufacturing plant environment. The World Economic Forum (WEF), in collaboration with McKinsey & Company, recognizes these factories as part of its Global “Lighthouse” Network. These lighthouse factories are beacons for other companies and industries to learn from. Until recently, there were 44 sites, mostly in Asia and Europe, showing leadership in the 4IR space. The current COVID-19 pandemic has created significant disruptions across global supply systems, further increasing the urgency for organizations to embrace Industry 4.0 and other digital technologies to remain competitive. Ten new diverse factories in different regions of the world, including several U.S. facilities, have been recognized as lighthouses, joining a growing list of networks in the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network.
