Many people wonder, How Do Birds Have Sex? Unlike most mammals, the majority of bird species do not have external reproductive organs. Instead, mating usually occurs through a brief contact known as a “cloacal kiss,” where the male and female press their cloacas together to transfer sperm. This process often lasts only a few seconds but is enough for fertilization to occur. Before mating, many birds engage in courtship displays such as singing, dancing, or offering food, helping them attract a suitable partner and increase the chances of successful reproduction.
