Among the many questions that people ask is, what is pagefile. sys, and why does it occupy space on the system drive? Well, pagefile. sys is a hidden system file of Windows that is used for the virtual memory management. When the physical RAM is full, Windows will move the inactive data to this file on a temporary basis so that the running of applications and background processes is not affected. It makes easier multitasking to a greater extent, avoids memory shortages, and the stability of the system is maintained even when very demanding tasks are being performed. The size of the file will be adjusted automatically according to the use of RAM and the settings of the system. Even though it occupies some space on the storage device, pagefile. sys is very necessary for the maintenance of performance at a high level and reliability on most the Windows computers and laptops.
