The documentary 2018 the unexpected loss of and theand also explores two questions: How the US progressed to the Trump presidency and how to “get out” of the era of the Trump administration.
Audiences polled by gave the film an average grade of “A” on 11/9 A+ to F scale, while reported filmgoers gave it an overall positive score of 82%, including an average 4.
They are about right vs VERY VERY WRONG. I have 11/9 mixed feelings and haven’t liked some of Michael Moore’s past work, but I believe that his assessment of things in 2016 and in regard to the Flint water Fahrenheit have been spot on.
The film had its world premiere on September 6, 2018, at theand was released in the United States on September 21, 2018, by Briarcliff Entertainment. After all, Moore argues, rather convincingly, that what matters is that we care about something. As a result, Moore laid off the crew and shut down development of the documentary.

Moore’s film relives the slow, sickening realization of that fateful night by first crafting a montage of incredulous voices promising Trump had no chance in a two-person raceand then he veers from the upbeat Clinton election party, complete with vaulted glass ceiling waiting to be ceremonially shattered.
As someone else said there wasn’t much new but when you relive it all you wonder if we’ve become the frog in the boiling water in this country. This is a great movie. He cites his previous documentaries, and which also highlighted unpunished social and political injustices. You can’t find a job because coal is dying, well go learn some new skills and stop blaming Fahrenheit or Trump. He also criticizes ‘s visit to Flint for not living up to the expectations of the people of Flint who expected to receive federal help after the visit.
I don’t care what your politics are, go see this movie. Retrieved December 11, 2018. The only way to save USA from the mess it is in, is to stop blaming your problems on somebody else and blame it on yourself. Moore’s central argument is that too many of us, himself included, became complacent and now our democracy is in peril from a wannabe tyrant who doesn’t care about inflicting lasting collateral damage. Lest you think Moore is blaming anyone and everyone for the rise of Trump, he even points the finger at himself and his own complacency.
He urges us to get up off of our couches and get active, not just voting but like Ocasio-Cortez running for office to change a broken political system that allowed Trump to take charge in the first place. There is hope however from a new wave of grass roots liberal candidates who are running for office, and Moore does a good job of capturing their intensity, charisma, and intellect.
As the night wears on and tears give way, the glass ceiling would remain intact. Great documentary, funny at times, will make you angry at other times. I walked out with tears rolling down my eyes after the movie finished! If one thought that the 2000 presidential election, which somehow “anointed” George W. But of course there is still time to ridicule Trump and his narcissistic tendencies. It was released alongside, and. Moore’s personal connections to Flint, Michigan run deep and he has featured the city in every documentary going back to his first daring film, 1989’s Roger and Me.
But anyone with a brain it could spark some serious, important discussions that we need to be having. The Russians are barely referenced – instead, Michael Moore gives us the working class views of the betrayal of all parties in addressing the needs of the average working American.

Obviously, for some, it’s easier to simply dismiss any critique of Trump as ‘conspiracy’ and criticize Moore for carrying political luggage, but, ignorance and insecurity aside, every subject, every interview, every observation, every human interaction in this movie was as real as they come.
It serves as a to Moore’s 2004 political documentarynamed for the date of the in 2001. He is also a writer for Vulture, The Playlist, The New York Times, and Rolling Stone, and the President of the Chicago Film Critics Association. The reported, “Film critics in Toronto largely hailed it as Moore’s most vital film in years. Just below that it reads “Ticket Confirmation :” followed by a 10-digit number. A few more words can help others decide if it’s worth watching They won’t be able to see your review if you only submit your rating.
Much in Moore’s analysis is very hard to disagree with, but this doesn’t make it automatically valuable. The beginning is a little painful reliving election night. He concludes that the no longer protects the people from the wealthy and powerful, and the is now nothing more than a mere dream. Now for the actual film. Retrieved July 22, 2020. Retrieved September 3, 2018. He performs a stunt, which he swears was not a stunt, where he drinks a glass of Flint tap water to help his parched throat.
It starts with the days just before the election, when the world was told that was going to be the next President. Don’t be racist, but don’t be stupid too. I’ve come to appreciate Michael Moore and loved this movie. It’s emotionally affecting and persuasive at points but it’s also too scattershot and lacking momentum, especially after Moore makes the conscious decision to keep Trump as a background presence, the latest malignant symptom of an apathetic voting public.
This includes the media and especially the Democratic Party, including the Clintons and President Obama. Retrieved September 7, 2018. The lessons of the last election weigh heavily on him and on the nation. It’s free of Moore’s occasional gaffes e. I know what you are Fahrenheit “The 11/9 is messed up because of liberals,” or “The country is messed up because of conservatives. There will be people that tune out specifically because of the Hitler comparisons, deeming Moore an alarmist, which the man might agree with. We jump from a teacher’s strike in West Virginia, to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as she canvasses before her upset in New York’s 14th district, to the Parkland High School students staging their own resistance movement for gun control, to the Flint water crisis.
To take things a step further, Moore also focuses on young, progressive-leaning candidates of the Bernie Sanders variety trying to take the Democratic Party back from corporate so-called “centrists”, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who won the seat for her congressional district in the Bronx during the summer of 2018. Rate this movie Oof, that was Rotten. If I see a group of foos in hoodies walking around with they hands in they pockets, I am getting out of there as fast as I can.
You know, “Send me your tired, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. It’s a powerful piece of rhetoric, like say the Gettysburg Address or Reagan’s “tear down that wall” speech.
But if his message is anything, don’t count out Moore and the American people just yet, because with the right push, it can all come roaring back. It’s heavy handed at times, but sometimes you have to be to get people to pay attention. Yet the movie, in its way, summons something ominous 2018 powerful.
It’s going to take everyone getting involved if we’re going to break this cycle. The image is an example of a ticket confirmation email that AMC sent you when you purchased your ticket.
